The new powers and UI feel like something I would find in a true sequel. It soft-reboots Destiny 2 without forcing people into a new game, one where Bungie could potentially start the cycle over again. Both games got major expansions to fix their issues, but most players aren’t eager to go through those pains again.Īnd that’s where Beyond Light is different. First-drafts and do-overs haven’t always fared well in Destiny, as Bungie overcomplicated the original Destiny in 2014 and oversimplified Destiny 2 in 2017. īeyond Light is the closest thing we’re going to get to Destiny 3, and I’m fine with that.
